Group home workers across the state are on strike fighting for a living wage, affordable healthcare, and a secure retirement.

These workers make less than $17 an hour on average and have to pay $6,000 per month in health insurance premiums for family coverage. That means a worker could work 80 hours a week and put 100% of their wages towards health insurance and still not be able to afford it.

This is completely outrageous.

Join us for a rally to support striking group home workers on Thursday, Nov. 11, to mark one month these workers have been on strike!

The last contract for these group home workers, represented by SEIU District 1199NE, expired in March. But their employer, Sunrise Northeast, has refused to budge at the negotiating table.

That’s in spite of the State of Connecticut allocating $184 million in additional funding for group homes to improve compensation and benefits. Many other group home organizations have settled fair contracts with 1199NE members.

Show your support for these hard-working union members this Thursday, Nov. 11, and demand Sunrise provide a fair pay and affordable healthcare.
