Ed Hawthorne, President of the Connecticut AFL-CIO, and Shellye Davis, Executive Vice President of the Connecticut AFL-CIO, made the following statement in response Rep. Jahana Hayes’s re-election:
We are so proud to have put union member and former national teacher of the year, Rep. Jahana Hayes, over the top so she can continue to serve the residents of the 5th Congressional District. Fortunately, Sen. Richard Blumenthal and our entire federal delegation were re-elected, and they are among the most ardently pro-worker legislators in the country. We know they will serve as an important backstop to any legislation intended to harm workers or their families.
