Lori J. Pelletier, President of the Connecticut AFL-CIO, made the following statement in response to Nancy Wyman’s decision to not run for Governor:

“Nancy Wyman has been a champion for workers from her time in the General Assembly in the Education Committee to her tenure in the Comptroller’s office and most recently, as our Lieutenant Governor.

“Her advocacy on health care and her commitment to children and their families has been evident in her forty years of public service.

“Though many of our members are disappointed in this news, what we as a labor movement work for is the ability to spend more time with your family, so we completely understand and appreciate Nancy’s decision.

“Every time Nancy ran for office since her run for state representative, she received the endorsement of the Connecticut AFL-CIO which is a reflection of her deep support and commitment to issues important to workers and their families.

“Not only is Nancy one of the finest Lieutenant Governors our state has ever had, she is also my friend and I wish her nothing but the best.”
